poetic reflections on eternity
When the Fire Dies
If the fire in you shall die
Do not give up the fight
When outside forces test your faith
Do not turn from the light
When darkness overtakes your path
May it not escape your mind
That when you seek Him with your heart
He will never leave you blind
When even friends seem not to care
When the world is one cold place
And leaves you standing all alone
Do not forget about His grace
When no one else quite understands
The pain that lives inside
Don't forget the price He paid
Just to walk by your side
When it may seem you fell too far
In sins that you've betrayed him for
Know even then that He still stands
Gently knocking at your door
Escape
In a world that is so perverse
In You my Lord I want to hide
In a life where innocents are cursed
I need Your light to be my guide
When friends and loved ones turn away
Because of rumors they've been told
Give me strength for them to pray
And let my heart never grow cold
When evil comes to me in disguise
Keep me Lord under Your wings
When in my ears he whispers lies
May they be closed to what he brings
Redeemed
In a dark cage chained in chains
There sat a slave enslaved in sin
She tried to stand but fell again
She tried to fight but couldn't win
Pleading for help her heart cried out
Not many heard her as she wept
She was laughed at and tormented
By an enemy that never slept
Then a light pierced through the dark
Forcing the enemy to flee
Jesus looked down and stretched His hand
And picking her up, He set her free
Spiritual Hunger
Walking through this world of darkness
I see no life in many eyes
They try to find a bit of hope
In this world filled with lies
Many walk behind a mask
And with a smile, the truth they hide
Not wanting anyone to see
What it is that's deep inside
As they stumble through the dark
Happiness they try to find
Seeking it from those like them
Not knowing that they too are blind
They seek where they can satisfy
Their inner thirst, their hunger
They come across a broken source
Then try to find one stronger
Not knowing that the source is He (Jesus)
And they need search no longer
Because He died to set them free
To Satisfy their hunger
A Captive Soul Set Free
So beautiful a site to see
A captive soul set free
To see a heart that's overjoyed
When chains that held him are destroyed
For this my life I want to live
Hope to the lost I wish to give
And see evil spirits take flight
From those that they once held so tight
Nothing more do I admire
Than to see a Holy fire
Fill those who were once so cold
To the truth that they were told
Oh God I ask for just one thing
Wisdom from You so I could bring
Those who are lost to You
And show to them a love that's true
So beautiful a site to see
A captive soul set free!
My Passion
When I fed you
I knew
It is me you will crucify
When I knelt to wash your feet
I knew
It is me you will deny
When I called you my disciple
I knew
It is me you will betray
When you chose to walk with me
I also knew
You would go astray
When I called you my beloved
Even then I knew
That your thorns will pierce my brow
You thought you knew me
When I cried
Forgive them Father
they don't know
Pride
A man walked on a righteous path
Carrying his yoke
Then the devil approached
And to His ear he spoke
Look at many that surround you
Who have all fallen so low
While you remain so faithful
Your heart as white as snow
For money or for power
To me their soul they sold
While you walk a humble path
With heart as pure as gold
Look at how generous you are
While others fall in greed
Failing to remain true
While you succeed
Pride came and stripped him then
From everything within
Leaving a dark emptiness
In a new heart of sin
Then spake Jesus
again unto them,
saying, I am the
light of the world:
he that followeth me
shall not walk in
darkness, but shall
have the light of life.
John 8:12
I must work the
works of Him that
sent me, while
it is day: the night
cometh, when no
man can work.
As long as I am
in the world,
I am the light
of the world.
